Calling all movie lovers!

Go back in time with the Town of Stony Plain this August by attending our annual outdoor movie event! It’s free to attend and there’s fun for the whole family. This year’s feature film is Dreamworks The Bad Guys

DATE: Thursday, August 18, 2022 
TIME: Activities begin at 7:30 PM and the movie begins at sundown
LOCATION: Heritage Park (Outdoors)
COST: Free (No registration or tickets required)
SEATING: Bring your own lawn chairs

A free shuttle will run from Heritage Park to the downtown area throughout the evening. Moviegoers can catch the shuttle downtown for Midsummer Thursdays and Cultural Campfires, then return to Heritage Park in time to catch the show!

City Centre Public Market

 

Enjoy all the fruits, veggies, and products of Spruce Grove this summer at the City Centre Market! Our annual market highlights the amazing local vendors we have right here in the city.

Try some delicious, fresh produce and food trucks, support amazing local artisans, dance and sing along to live entertainment, and watch your kids have a blast with tons of fun activities!

Cultural Campfires

Cultural Campfires of Stony Plain have a few more events this August before the summer ends. Join us each week for engaging storytellers who bring you into their culture with the magic of words. Build connections across all communities and create a safe space for learning and acceptance. These campfires are FREE. All you need to do is bring your comfiest camping chair and your listening ears.

August 11: Myths and Legends with the Stony Plain Public Library
August 18: Local ghost stories with Katelyn Huxter
August 25: Chinese folktales and harp performance with Jia Jia

Alberta Open Farm Days (Stony Plain)

Do you love supporting local? Come on down to the Multicultural Heritage Centre for Alberta Open Farm Days in Stony Plain. Try small batch, handmade, organic preserves and syrups made from locally sourced ingredients. Visit the Settlers Cabin for butter and breadmaking demonstrations throughout the day and get into the history of this beautiful community with a guided walking tour. There will be gardening activities for the kids and walkabouts of our urban farm. And best of all? Farm-to-table food samples at the Three Moons Kitchen!

Looking to try something new this summer? Jubilee Park has a ton of fun activities to enjoy! Cool off at the Ken Morrison/REMAX Excellence Spray Park with the whole family. We’ve got great water features and room for picnics and relaxation. The kids can have fun under the sun while staying cool while you enjoy a lounge in the shade. Jubilee Park also has a 9-hole disc golf course for those looking for something different. Toss your frisbee with confidence and you might be surprised at how much fun you’ll have!

Open Farm Day & Tractor Show

Come on down to the Open Farm Day & Tractor Show in Spruce Grove! See up to 70 classic and modern tractors and learn tons of fun facts about our farms. Kids (and parents) can enjoy soft serve ice cream and there’ll be tons of activities to try! We also offer tours of our grain elevators, but make sure you register in advance to save a spot!

Agra Fair

The Agra Fair is the District Agricultural Society's biggest event of the year! This weekend will have several events, including Bench Shows, fireworks, a parade, and so much more. You can support some of our local vendors and partake in many of the fun activities planned. This fair runs from August 26th to 28th and it’s free to attend! We can’t wait to see you.

A'Maize Fest

The last of our Midsummer Thursdays is happening this month! Fall into Autumn with our end-of-summer festivities. There will be multiple, family-friendly activities for people of all ages and a corn-ucopia of fall fun. This year is all about celebrating our beautiful town and your beautiful family. You don’t want to miss this event!

Pop into a buggy and see the beautiful art of Stony Plain. The Town of Stony Plain is known for its magnificent outdoor paintings. With over 39 magnificent murals located throughout downtown and surrounding areas, you’re bound to find something that speaks to you (figuratively, of course). The artworks have been created by 23 different artists from across Canada.

DATE: August 13 and 27
TIME: 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM

All tours are booked through and begin at the Multicultural Heritage Centre. Email or call 780-963-2777 to reserve your spot. Tours are limited to 10 people/wagon and are $15/person.
