Spring is just around the corner (at least we hope so!) and it’s time to say “hello sunshine” and “goodbye snowstorms”! Enjoy the refresh that comes with spring in Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.

SPRUCE GROVE SPORTS FACILITIES

Spruce Grove’s sports facilities have got a ton of activities and venues to make your spring a memorable one! Get the kids out with you, or enjoy a day with friends—there’s always something to do.

Spruce Grove is home to over 50 parks and playgrounds around the city, including Rotary Playscape which is open all year round at Fuhr Sports Park. Hit the courts for a game of basketball, tennis, or the increasingly popular pickleball (which is like the giant version of ping pong)!

When the days get hotter, head down to the Ken Morrison/REMAX Excellence Spray Park located in Jubilee Park or the Central Park splash pads! And if you’re feeling adventurous, go on a treasure hunt by geocaching! Geocaching is an interactive treasure hunt using a GPS device. Make friends and track your treasures!

 

STONY PLAIN SPORTS FACILITIES

Stony Plain offers a variety of indoor and outdoor sports facilities to help you get energized this spring! Host an event or go for a day and try one of many activities, sports, or classes.

Get into almost any game you want on the courts. You can play basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, or, our personal favourite, pickleball! You can also get a group out for a baseball game at Centennial Diamond!

As the weather warms up, check out the outdoor pool for a sunny day by the water! The recreation facilities take rentals, so you can plan the perfect day to enjoy the start of spring.

 

GOLF

Hit the links all spring and summer at one of the many golf courses open in Stony Plain and Spruce Grove! With so many to choose from, You can work on your game and enjoy a variety of beverage cart options.

And if you’re feeling particularly ambitious this spring, give disc golf a try at Jubilee Park in Spruce Grove!

 

FARMERS’ MARKETS

The Spruce Grove Farmers’ Market is running all spring and summer! There’s fun for the whole family and a variety of local vendors with homemade goods, local artwork, and delicious food.

  • Time: Every Saturday 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The Stony Plain’s Farmers’ Market has grown exponentially in recent years, with vendors now filling the upper and lower levels of the community center. Enjoy a variety of local and Alberta-wide talents from home goods, treats, art, and more.

  • Location: 5008-51 Avenue, Stony Plain
  • Time: Every Saturday 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The market takes food bank donations and you can enter to win the 50/50 draw held at 1:00 p.m. every Saturday. With over 70 vendors, a food court, and activities to enjoy, there’s a little something for everyone!

 

FOR THE DOGS

Take your furry friend to one of many off-leash parks in Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.

Take your dog to the agility course at Umbach Off-Leash Dog Park. Enjoy over 8 acres of double-fenced fields at Cpl. Jim Galloway Memorial Off-Leash Area which is attached to the Diamond Grove RV Campground. Go out with your pup near the trails at the Marlboro Off-Leash Park!
