Spruce Grove and Stony Plain have plenty of winter activities to enjoy. You can go camping year-round at many campgrounds and RV parks if you’re feeling adventurous, or stay cozy downtown near many delicious restaurants. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can go skating at one of the many outdoor rinks, or try your hand at cross country skiing and snowshoeing! We know it might be a little cold, but our communities will capture your holiday spirit and spark your adventurous side!

Family Fest

Spend New Year’s Eve at Family Fest! This special event features skating, painting, horse rides, a photo booth, and fireworks. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, and a whole evening of fun activities. Relax by the fire with the special someone, or teach the kids how to skate (we are Canadian, after all!). The Pioneer Museum is home to tens of thousands of artifacts from the birth and growth of these great towns. Take a walk through history and learn all about the origins and story of these communities. Aiming to keep the spirit and history alive, the museum collects things of historical interest and presents the stories of these items to visitors. The museumโ€™s volunteers help in machinery restoration, building restoration and maintenance, archiving artifacts, guiding tours and hosting events. With special exhibits, demonstrations, displays, and activities, you can travel back in time to a simpler era.

Spruce Grove Grain Elevator Museum

Did you know that since 1933, the number of grain elevators in Western Canada have gone from a whopping 1800 to only 313 left in Alberta? The preservation of these grain elevators is a reminder of our history and how far we’ve come in many ways. Being a part of our unique Canadian culture, the Spruce Grove Grain Elevator Museum aims to protect the memories of our past and teach us valuable lessons to take into the future.
